Cardinals-Cowboys would be ideal Thanksgiving matchup

If the Cardinals get a game on national television, there wouldn’t be a better one than the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

The NFL will release its 2020 schedule Thursday evening and we will know when the Arizona Cardinals play each of their opponents and how many times they will be on national television.

We already highlighted a few matchups that would look good in prime time, but this year offers a special opportunity.

The Cardinals will play the Dallas Cowboys on the road this season. The Cowboys always play one of their home games on Thanksgiving.

That would make for a fun matchup. The Cardinals and Cowboys on Thanksgiving on national television.

There would be plenty of star power. The Cardinals have quarterback Kyler Murray and receiver DeAndre Hopkins, already a star in Texas because of his time with the Houston Texans. A faceoff between Murray and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott would be good. And the Cowboys drafted receiver CeeDee Lamb in the first round, who was Murray’s teammate at Oklahoma.

Both teams are expected to have high-powered offenses. The Cowboys should be a threat in the NFC and the Cardinals hopefully will be a surprisingly good team as well.

If both teams are competitive, the game could have playoff implications late in November.

So if the Cardinals are going to get any games on national television, there isn’t a more ideal scenario than to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
