Cardinals WR coach trusts Andy Isabella will make big strides in 2020

He’s just got a successful approach at life,” said WR coach David Raih. “Because of his preparation, you just trust him.”

Of all the Arizona Cardinals’ draft picks in 2019, receiver Andy Isabella had perhaps the most disappointing year of the group. Touted for his production and speed in college, his impact on the season was minimal.

He finished with only nine catches all season and only played 157 total snaps on offense.

The hope is that he will make major strides enter his second season.

Receivers coach David Raih believes it will happen because of Isabella’s approach.

“First of all, Andy is definitely more confident,” he said on the Big Red Rage. “Andy is extremely diligent, a very hard worker. He’s not going to go to two or three before he does step one.”

It is very likely that approach is what slowed him in being able to do more as a rookie. After all, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said the way they handled him didn’t do him any favors. He was never disappointed in Isabella.

“Last year was a huge growth period for him,” Raih continued. “Right now, he’s just more confident and he’s playing more loosely. His technique is more natural. He’s just got a successful approach at life. Because of his preparation, you just trust him.”

There is no questioning his talent. He has the right approach. Now he needs to prove it on the field and stay healthy. The Cardinals’ fourth receiver spot is wide open and Isabella is the perfect player to fill the role.

We will see if Raih’s trust in him is warranted.
