Cardinals work out former Chiefs RB Damien Williams

The Cardinals could use a veteran running back and brought one in on Monday before the start of training camp.

The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp on Tuesday and might have a new running back.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals brought in former Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams for a workout.

The Cardinals have only one proven running back on the roster currently in James Conner with a few young, unproven players and a journeyman special teams player.

Williams is 31 years old and has been in the league since 2014.

Last season, he played in only one game for the Atlanta Falcons before being placed on injured reserve.

Before that, he spent a season with the Chicago Bears, two with the Kansas City Chiefs and four with the Miami Dolphins.

He is 5-foot-11 and 225 pounds. His best season was 2019 when he rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns. That season, he added 196 yards and four touchdowns in the postseason, en route to a Super Bowl championship for the Chiefs.
