Cardinals vs. Steelers ultimate Week 14 preview

The Cardinals are coming off an utterly embarrassing loss against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. They’ll look to rebound against the “Duck” Hodges-lead Steelers that have playoff aspirations.

After being stunned by the New England Patriots on opening night, the Steelers defense has been very impressive. In an attempt to salvage what once looked like a lost season, the Black and Gold sent a premium first-round pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

This move was heavily criticized. The Steelers had a very bad record at this point in the season, so many believed they were giving up a top-ten draft pick. Since then, however, Fitzpatrick has been nothing short of phenomenal for the Steelers. He has a whopping five interceptions on the year and has elevated the Pittsburgh defense to an elite level.

The Steelers defense is currently ranked sixth in points allowed with an average of 18.8 per game. They are a top-ten unit in most important defensive statistics.

For Kyler Murray and company, this provides a very difficult redemption opportunity. The offense was shut down by the Rams and Wade Phillips, and they’ll have to do much better this Sunday to prevent fans from leaving during the middle of the third quarter.

Speaking of Kyler Murray, the rookie signal-caller’s Rookie of the Year chances took a hit against L.A., but there is still four games remaining. Murray has been phenomenal in almost every game he’s played, so growing pains like last week were expected and understandable. Murray himself would never say that, of course, but taking aside last week’s performance, Kyler has been a top-ten quarterback in the NFL.
