Former Indianapolis Colts defensive backs coach and current Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon is expected to be hired as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Gannon spent three seasons working as the defensive backs coach (2018-2020) under head coach Frank Reich. When former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni was hired as the head coach of the Eagles in 2021, he brought Gannon along as his defensive coordinator.

Gannon’s defense with the Eagles in 2022 was one of the best units we’ve seen in a decade. Though they allowed the Chiefs to score 31 offensive points in the Super Bowl LVII loss, his unit was among the most feared throughout the season.
So while the Colts hired Sirianni’s offensive coordinator in Shane Steiche, who was officially introduced Tuesday, the Cardinals are finalizing a deal to hire his defensive coordinator in Gannon.
Once this hire becomes official, it will conclude the head coach searches around the NFL.
