Cardinals sit in middle of league in new USA TODAY power rankings

They are ranked 16th for the second week in a row after their loss to the L.A. Rams.

The Arizona Cardinals are currently mired in a three-game losing streak and have lost four of their last five games. They have gone from being in the lead in the NFC West to now out of the playoffs as the No. 8 seed at the start of Week 14.

However, in the most recent USA TODAY power rankings by Nate Davis, the Cardinals’ 38-28 loss to the Los Angeles Rams did nothing to change their ranking in the league.

Davis ranks them 16th for the second week in a row.

QB Kyler Murray averaging 20.3 rushing yards per game during Arizona’s three-week free fall as defenses look to contain him to the pocket – apparently a wise strategy.

Whether this proves to be the kryptonite to the Cardinals’ offense remains to be seen. However, they have gone from five consecutive games with at least 400 yards of offense and at least 30 points to not having more than 314 yards in the last three games, averaging only 22 points per game in that span.

They take on the NFC East-leading New York Giants this weekend. While the Giants are coming off a big upset win over the Seattle Seahawks, it is a game the Cardinals should win.

If they don’t, though, things will be uneasy in Arizona.
