Cardinals open rookie minicamp with only 4 tryout players

The Cardinals open rookie minicamp with only 23 players, a change from years past when they would have a full roster.

In years past, the Arizona Cardinals would have a full roster in rookie minicamp, filled with draft picks, undrafted rookies and tryout players.

In their first year with head coach Jonathan Gannon, they went with a much smaller roster. Rather than 50 or so players, they opened camp with only 23 total players.

That included nine draft picks, 10 undrafted rookie signees and only four tryout players.

Who are the tryout players?

  • P Matt Haack
  • WR Marquez Stevenson
  • P Ty Long
  • RB Christian Beal-Smith

Haack and Long are veteran punters. Stevenson played five games in 2021 and Beal-Smith is a rookie.
