Cardinals’ Justin Pugh 1 of only 3 guards to accomplish this in 2021

Only three guards in the NFL last season played more than half their team’s offensive snaps and did not allow a sack. Pugh was one of them.

Arizona Cardinals starting left guard Justin Pugh enters his fifth season with the team after redoing his contract for the second straight year. He has been a very solid player for Arizona at left guard for the last three seasons after one year at right guard filled with struggles and injuries.

Agreeing to take a pay cut was helpful to the team for this season and some will say the team could and possibly should upgrade the position, but he actually was very good in pass protection last season.

According to Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, Pugh was one of only three NFL guards last season who played at least 50% of their team’s offensive snaps and did not allow a single snap.

Pugh played in 14 games last season and 802 total offensive snaps, which was 82% of the Cardinals’s total snaps on offense.

To not give up a single sack in more than 800 snaps is impressive.

You can’t upgrade from no sacks allowed.
