Cardinals’ Jordan Phillips left off top interior DL rankings after big 2019

He had a career year with 9.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss and 16 QB hits.

The Arizona Cardinals signed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips this past offseason to a three-year $30 million contract, making him their most expensive free agent addition. He is coming off a career year in which he logged 9.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss and 16 quarterbacks hits.

Among defensive tackles, few had better production.

Despite his big season, he doesn’t get recognized for being among the best interior defenders.

He was left off Mark Schofield’s list of the top 11 interior defenders for Touchdown Wire.

The list is headlined by Aaron Donald and Chris Jones, as is to be expected.

However, Phillips does not even get honorable mention but that is likely because all his production has come in one season.

In the four seasons prior to 2019, Phillips had a combined 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 17 QB hits.

He is out to prove his 2019 was not a fluke. Replicating his success in 2020 might just get him more recognition.
