Cardinals in the dark as to CB Malcolm Butler’s situation

The veteran cornerback is dealing with a personal issue that has him mulling retirement. The Cardinals don’t know what the issue is right now.

News broke Monday that Arizona Cardinals cornerback Malcolm Butler is dealing with a personal situation that has left him contemplating retiring from the NFL. Details are not known.

In fact, the team is not aware what is going on.

According to Josina Anderson, the Cardinals learned of this turn of events just a couple of days ago and that the organization doesn’t “have a clue” what is behind it.

As of now, the plan for the team is to “keep going.”

If Butler ultimately walks away from the game, it will leave the Cardinals in a bit of a bind at cornerback, as he was acquired in the offseason to be a starter.

Butler has removed all photos of himself with the Cardinals from his social media, but to think that this situation has something to do with some unhappiness with the team would be wild speculation at this point.

Whatever is happening, we hope Butler comes out of it well, no matter the effect it might have on the team. If something is urgent enough to pull him away from his career, it must be important.
