Cardinals hire new head athletic trainer from Texas Tech

Drew Krueger replaces Tom Reed. He was an associate athletic director for Texas Tech and head athletic trainer for multiple sports.

The Arizona Cardinals dismissed longtime head athletic trainer Tom Reed this offseason. It was done as an organizational decision.

While the team has not announced it, Reed’s replacement has been hired.

Texas Tech University announced that Drew Krueger, associate athletic director and head athletic trainer for the university’s football team and both the men’s and women’s golf teams, had left the university and was hired by the Cardinals.

He is the Cardinals’ new head athletic trainer.

Krueger had been at Texas Tech since 2014 after he had a seasonal internship with the New England Patriots, where Cardinals general manager Monti Ossnefort worked, and was a graduate assistant at Oklahoma University.

The Cardinals were given failing grades this offseason by players in five categories. The training staff was not part of those failing grades, but changes apparently needed to be made.

Gannon told reporters it was not in reaction to the report card.
