Cardinals hire former Notre Dame standout Autry Denson as RB coach

Denson give the Cardinals another coach on their staff who has never held that position before in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals have added another coach to their staff that has not held that position in the NFL before. The latest is their running backs coach.

According to WCIV sports director Scott Eisberg in Charleston, South Carolina, the Cardinals have hired Autry Denson as their running backs coach and he is headed to Indianapolis to join the coaching staff at the NFL combine.

Denson was the athletic director at Northwood Academy in Summerville, SC.

Denson is the all-time leading rusher in Notre Dame history with 4,318 yards and 43 touchdowns from 1995-1998,where he played collegiately and played in the NFL from 1999-2002.

Before his job at Northwood, he coached running backs in college from 2011-2018 at Bethune-Cookman, Miami of Ohio and Notre Dame. He was head coach at Charleston Southern from 2019-2022.

He has never coached at the NFL level.

Almost all the offense staff that we know of will be making their NFL debut at that position.

The Cardinals have not formally announced their coaching staff outside head coach Jonathan Gannon and his coordinators.
