Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury saw himself becoming ‘super rich’ real estate mogul

The Arizona Cardinals head coach never envisioned himself being a football coach.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury did not see himself having a career coaching football, even though he grew up with a coach for a father. And while he is making very good money as an NFL head coach, he believes he would have been even richer had his life gone in the direction he thought it would go.

“I thought I’d play for a little while and then get into real estate or something,” he told Jordan Schulz on ESPN. “This is a completely different path than anticipated.”

He had a business management degree. Growing up with two teacher parents, he said that “education was a big deal” in his family. He studied hard. he thought he would go live in Dallas and “sell some houses and do some stuff.”

As a football coach, he is known to be laid back and he likes to be well-dressed when he isn’t in his team gear.

He would have been the same guy in business.

“I’d have been well-dressed and chill,” he said, “but I’d have been super rich.”

He has made good money as a coach. He was a head coach at Texas Tech for six years and now is in the NFL in the second of a four-year deal. He is making millions of dollars. But he feels like his business career would have been even more lucrative.

“This would have been chump change at this point, I feel like,” he said. “I love football but I think if I would have sold commercial real estate at an early age, we could have made some real money.”
