Cardinals have less salary cap space than originally estimated

They have less than $38 million in cap space rather than the nearly $40 million estimated not long ago.

Up until recently, it was estimated the Arizona Cardinals had roughly $39.7 million in cap space available as the new league year approaches. They don’t have as much as originally anticipated.

The salary cap was set at $198.2 million for 2020 and that is a little below what noted cap sites like Over the Cap or Spotrac have been using. They had been using $200 million as the estimated salary cap.

What does that mean for the Arizona Cardinals.

With a salary cap of $198.2 million, they currently have $158.5 million tied up with their top 51 salaries. They have $4.4 million in dead money. They gain about $2.36 million in rollover cap space from 2019.

In all, rather than the $39.7 million in cap space, they actually have about $37.6 million, roughly $5 million of which will need for signing their draft picks.
