Cardinals have had contact with Notre Dame S Alohi Gilman

Gilman was a captain for the Fighting Irish and is an intriguing safety prospect.

The Arizona Cardinals cannot meet with draft prospects because of league restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, but they have had many video contacts with different prospects.

One such prospect, according to Draft Wire’s Justin Melo, is Notre Dame safety Alohi Gilman.

The Cardinals were going to use one of their 30 official private visits on him but instead, with the ban on private visits, have had a predraft meeting with him via FaceTime.

Gilman plays the way the Cardinals like, especially from their safeties. He is 5-10 and 200 pounds with athleticism, although his 40 time is only okay at 4.6 seconds.

He was a leader at Notre Dame for his final two seasons there after transferring from Navy.

In two seasons for the Fighting Irish, he had 168 tackles, six for loss and three interceptions.

The intensity with which he plays would make him, at minimum, an impact special teams player and, with some development, he could become an impact box safety with some coverage potential.
