Cardinals have 2 vacant roster spots after RB Tony Jones released

The Cardinals have two vacancies and three players designated to return.

The Arizona Cardinals announced the return of safety Budda Baker and quarterback Kyler Murray to practice on Wednesday. They were both designated to return from their respective reserve lists — Murray from PUP and Baker from injured reserve.

The team also announced another roster move, releasing running back Tony Jones, whom they acquired last week on a waiver claim.

Jones did not even end up dressing for the one game he was with the team. He was inactive.

With his release, the Cardinals now have two vacancies. They did not replace James Conner on the roster after he was placed on injured reserve and now Jones is gone.

Arizona does have three players designated to return who will need to be placed on the active roster. Rookie cornerback Garrett Williams is on the third week of his practice window and, as mentioned, Baker and Murray could return this week.

Baker is likely to play this week.
