Cardinals get bump in power rankings despite loss to Bills

They move up from no. 22 to No. 21 in USA TODAY’s rankings.

The Arizona Cardinals built a 17-3 lead over the Buffalo Bills, fell behind 31-20 and then put them in position to be able to win at the end, although that attempt failed in a 34-28 loss.

However, that “good loss” to a quality team helped them in terms of where they stand in Week 2 NFL power rankings.

In rankings from USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, they moved up one spot from No. 22 to No. 21.

They nearly stole from the Mafia – in Buffalo – despite rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and TE Trey McBride combining for 34 yards. Seems like a glass half full situation.

Yes, the Cardinals had a chance to win and got nine total yards from their outside receivers.

However, they also blew a 17-3 first-half lead and have lost their starting right tackle.

A win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 will definitely do more to boost them. We will see if they are able to do that.
