Cardinals free agent outlook: TE Darrell Daniels

A look at his 2020 season and the likelihood he returns in 2021.

One of the Arizona Cardinals’ many unrestricted free agents this offseason is tight end Darrell Daniels. Will he be back in 2021?

Daniels wrapped up his second full season with the team in 2020. Acquired in a waiver claim late in 2018, he was mainly a special teamer in 2019 and in 2020 he became an integral part of the offensive rotation, although he was the third tight end on the roster. Injuries to Maxx Williams increased his role.

Daniels also missed time with injuries. He missed four games when he was hurt, appearing in 12 games and starting eight. He had eight catches on the season for 92 yards and a touchdown.

He was used mainly as a blocking tight end and was inconsistent at it.

However, head coach Kliff Kingsbury spoke highly of his potential before the season, citing his speed.

He has a place on the team and fills a role and is a solid No. 3 option as a backup blocker. Will he get interest elsewhere?

The Cardinals won’t likely want to pay him more than the minimum and he likely won’t get much interest beyond that elsewhere, so it will be a matter of opportunity for him.

Will he return?
