The 2020 NFL season did not end the way the Arizona Cardinals wanted, as they went from being 6-3 and in control of making the playoffs to finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs. However, in terms of how good they are, they still are viewed as a team to be reckoned with, assuming they build on what they began with last year.
In USA TODAY’s final power rankings for the season, they come in at No. 13 and are the sixth-ranked team in the NFC, suggesting they should have been in the postseason.
They finish ranked between the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts.
They are the third-ranked team in the NFC West, behind the L.A. Rams, who come in at No. 5, and the Seattle Seahawks, who are No. 8. The San Francisco 49ers finished at No. 19.
The Cardinals are right in the thick of things for next season but perhaps there is some turbulence ahead. Quarterback Kyler Murray might not be happy with the offensive line he has.
Writes Davis in the blurb about the Cardinals’ ranking:
If you’re into interpreting retweets, sure seems like QB Kyler Murray would like Arizona to start reinvesting in the trenches.
Seattle’s Russell Wilson has mentioned getting hit less this offseason. Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is seeking a trade.
This offseason could quickly become the offseason of unhappy quarterbacks if the Cardinals don’t make sure to keep their young star quarterback happy and healthy.
