Cardinals DL Jordan Phillips already ruled out of Week 15 with hamstring injury

It is the second time this season he has made his hamstring injury worse after recovering enough to play.

It has been a frustrating second half of the season for Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Jordan Phillips. He can’t seem to stay healthy. After coming back from injured reserve last week, he is hurt again.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced to reporters on Monday that Phillips would not play in Week 15 against the Phieladelphia Eagles.

“He worked really hard to come back and had looked really good in practice,” Kingsbury said on Monday. “That was a long play with the turnover and just unfortunate. He’s a great person, been a great teammate and I know he’s down that he won’t be able to play this week. We’ll kind of go from there with that situation.”

Kingsbury said the whole thing was “unfortunate.”

Phillips injured his hamstring initially in Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks. After coming back from the bye, he played against the Miami Dolphins and reaggravated it, which led to his sting on IR. He was designated for return last week and practiced well, only to get hurt again early in the game when Markus Golden had a strip sack in the New York Giants’ first offensive possession.

The Cardinals have had to deal with a number of injuries on the defensive line.

Phillips, who signed a three-year, $30 million contract last offseason as a free agent, has appeared in nine games this season. He has 11 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
