The Arizona Cardinals were a five-win team in 2019. Between the development of quarterback Kyler Murray and offseason acquisitions, they are sure to be better.
How much better?
Some analysts believe they are the most improved team of the offseason. According to ESPN analysts, the Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the most improved.
Aaron Schatz and Field Yates picked the Cardinals.
From Schatz:
It’s easy to say Tampa Bay, but I’m going to swerve and take Arizona. DeAndre Hopkins is obviously a big addition, but the Cardinals also added a good amount of defensive talent, including Jordan Phillips, Devon Kennard and first-round pick Isaiah Simmons.
From Yates:
High marks for general manager Steve Keim, whose trade for Hopkins ranks among the highest-impact moves of the offseason, while adding Simmons at pick No. 8 was tremendous value. Supplement those moves with need-filling free-agent additions and the expected improvement of Kyler Murray, and this team feels like one primed to make a leap.
You don’t have to convince most Cardinals fans of this optimism. The defense should be better. After all, they were terrible and added talent. The offense is largely unchanged and played well down the stretch.
How improved is this team?
They look like they could be anywhere from a seven to a 10-win team in 2020.
