The Arizona Cardinals had tryouts with four defensive backs this past Tuesday and Friday they added another to the list. It’s one with a very recent connection to Sunday’s opponent. Very recent.
Jason Taylor II, who is no relation to the Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end edge rusher by the same name, attended Oklahoma State and was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round of the 2023 draft. He was first-team All-Big 12 in 2022.
The six-foot, 204-pound safety was on injured reserve for a part of last season and played eight games, participating in 39 snaps on defense and 111 on special teams.
This year, he was waived by the Rams in the cutdown to 53 players and signed to the practice squad the following day. However, he was released from the practice squad on Tuesday of this week.
Tryouts on Friday in the NFL happen, but not a lot. Is it only coincidence that the Cardinals brought him to Tempe two days before they play his former team?
