Cardinals bring back K Matt Prater on 2-year contract

Prater will be 39 years old this coming season.

The Arizona Cardinals are beginning to make some moves in free agency. They announced the return of three players, including kicker Matt Prater.

The team announced it agreed to terms with Prater on a two-year contract.

Prater has played two seasons for the Cardinals and will be 39 years old this season.

He missed four games with a hip injury but in 13 games last season, he made 22-of-25 field goals, including 5-of-6 from 50 yards and beyond. He also converted on 17-of-18 extra points.

In 2021, he was 30-for-37 on field goals, making even from 50 yards and beyond, and 47-of-49 extra points.

What we have to wait and see is compensation. His last contract was two years and was worth $4.65 million. His calculated market value this offseason is $3.7 million per season.
