Canton bound? Greg Schiano says that New York Giants legend Tiki Barber should be in the Hall of Fame

Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano believes that Tiki Barber should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Greg Schiano believes that not one but two Barbers deserve to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In an interview last week on WFAN with Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney, Schiano, the head coach of Rutgers football, believes that a New York Giants star running back has been overlooked for the Hall of Fame. That running back? None other than Barber, who along with his co-host were interviewing the Rutgers head coach.

During his two seasons as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Schiano coached Ronde Barber, the brother of Tiki. Ronde was recently selected to be part of this year’s incoming Hall of Fame class following a career where the cornerback was selected an All-Pro five times and made the Pro Bowl fives time.

“You mentioned your brother man, awesome, awesome player and I learned a lot from him. I really enjoyed coaching him. Now going into the Hall of Fame,” Schiano said on Friday during his interview on WFAN.

“And you should be next – I ain’t kidding you.! When you look  – you know only a few people know it 10,000 rushing yards, 5,000 receiving, 1,000 return and no one’s ever done that in the National Football League. So I’m going to,start the Tiki for the gold jacket.”

At this point, Tierney jumped into the conversation.

“His partner started that a while ago my man, you can join in. You’re behind me coach, alright?” Tierney said with a laugh.

“I’m on a good team then,” Schiano said before the interview ended.

Tiki, a member of the Giants ‘Ring of Honor,’ made three Pro Bowls during his career and once was named an All-Pro.

He finished his 10 years in the NFL, all with the Giants, with 10,449 rushing yards and 5,183 receiving yards.

He was also incredibly durable, missing only three regular-season games during his decade in the league.
