Canadiens’ Jeff Petry revealed the gross reason for his bloodshot eyes in the Stanley Cup playoffs

Not a story for the faint of heart that’s for sure.

We finally know the reason why Jeff Petry’s eyes looked intensely demonic during this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs. Unfortunately, it’s quite a gross one!

During the Montreal Canadiens’ run to the Stanley Cup Final, Petry made some headlines after his extremely bloodshot eyes were caught on camera in the third round against the Vegas Golden Knights. Petry denied to give an explanation in the moment, but his wife gave a bit of clarity later on that it was not allergies nor was it from being tired.

(Now here’s where it gets gross, so if you’re squeamish feel free to pass on this one!)

Instead it was, in fact, due to passing out from the pain of having his pinky finger set back into place!

We knew Petry had injured his hand earlier on in the playoffs, something he sat out for and also played through at times during the postseason. Thanks to confirmation from Petry himself at the Canadiens’ exit interviews this week, we now know that he broke his finger after getting it stuck in one of the photographer’s holes in the glass.

As it was being set back into place, Petry passed out from the intense pain and shock, ending up with popped blood vessels in his eyes which stuck around for weeks.

Yeah that’s… not a story I ever want to hear repeated ever again, thank you!
