The 2023 World Junior Championship came to a close on Thursday with a highly anticipated rematch between Canada and Czechia.
In the semifinals, Canada defeated the United States 6-2 after coming back from a 2-0 deficit with goaltender Thomas Milic stopping 43 of 45 shots in the victory. Meanwhile, Czechia also found themselves trailing Sweden 1-0 late in the third period of their semifinal matchup but David Jiricek tied things up with just 39 seconds remaining in regulation, and Jiri Kulich scored in the overtime to complete the comeback and secure a spot in the gold medal game.
