Can Najee Harris duplicate ball security with the Steelers?

Ball security was an issue with Steelers in the past. Can Najee Harris right the path?

We’re not in ‘Bama anymore. And Pittsburgh’s offensive line doesn’t consist of Pro Bowl talent. But (hopefully) that won’t keep Najee from being Najee.

According to Pro Football Focus College, Harris touched the ball 719 with the Crimson Tide and only one fumble was lost.

While my research on PFF yields a slightly different amount of carries (647), there’s no denying only one fumble lost shows Harris has excellent ball-handling skills and a keen awareness of traffic surrounding him.

Harris was also a threat in Alabama’s passing game, as it sounds like is the plan in Pittsburgh. As a receiver, Harris was caught 81 passes on 102 targets for 835 yards and 11 touchdowns. He did fumble a reception, but it was not lost. He also had only three drops in his collegiate career.

Harris hasn’t taken a pro snap yet, so no one knows just what those stats will be in Pittsburgh. There’s no question that Harris will be a great addition to the team, and, hopefully, he’ll give them the boost they’ve desperately needed.
