The hope is always that past greatness inspires the same in the future, but the truth of the matter can often be more complicated. Such is the situation the Boston Celtics‘ brass likely hopes for from their young, rising team on the verge (or so it seems) of contention again, fresh off of witnessing Kevin Garnett — the lynchpin of the storied franchise’s last banner crew — get his jersey retired by the team with all the pomp and fanfare he deserved.
We all saw starting Boston big man Robert Williams III standing up for the ceremony as well as his social media post after the event, and star forward Jaylen Brown joined in tweeting his support of The Big Ticket’s big night. But will the team’s young core learn from and be inspired by the spectacle they witnessed Sunday evening?
The host of the NBC Sports Boston “Celtics Talk” podcast Chris Forsberg is joined by Abby Chin as the duo soak in the vibes from KG’s ceremony, and discuss how it might shape the next generation of Celtics greatness.
Check out the clip embedded above to hear all they have to say about the historic moment and what it might do for the team’s future as well.
