Can Jayden Daniels jump Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft?

Daniels threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns and four interceptions as he led the Tigers to another 10-win season and he earned the Heisman Trophy.

Going into the 2023 season, two quarterbacks were at the top of every NFL team’s draft boards, Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. Williams was the reigning Heisman Trophy winner from USC and had all the arm talent to put a football wherever he wanted it. Maye was at North Carolina and his football IQ is on another level.

Along the way, [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] entered his name into the conversation as he started putting up numbers that were reminiscent of Joe Burrow’s 2019 season. He threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions as he led the Tigers to another 10-win season and he earned the Heisman Trophy.

Recently, Mel Kiper talked about how Daniels might jump Maye for that No. 2 spot.

“Drake Maye turned out to be a guy that now is trying to hold off Jayden Daniels,” Kiper said. “I have not yet finalized Jayden or Drake. That’s going to be something I’m thinking about all the way into April.

“I tried to be ahead of the curve on [Daniels]. But then, all of a sudden, I see it and now I got Drake Maye still ahead of him by one spot. But in terms of that, that’s going to be fun to see how that plays out,” Kiper said.

The NFL Draft will not take place until April so there are a few months to mull over where JD is on the hierarchy of college quarterbacks.
