Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been a thorn in the state of Georgia’s side going back to his college days. After leading Auburn to a National Championship, Newton was selected by the Panthers with the No. 1 overall pick in 2011.
Over the next nine seasons, the Atlanta Falcons had their share of battles against Newton. Cam has now been out of the league for two full seasons, last playing in 2021. Would the former NFL MVP consider a return to the league?
Newton, a Georgia native, made an appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show and said that if he were to come back, it would only be to play for the Falcons.
Will @CameronNewton ever get back in the pads?

“Me having a family now, it’s always been about family and I don’t see myself leaving Atlanta,” said Newton when asked about a potential return. “If it’s not Atlanta, I don’t want to.”
Newton has passed for 32,282 yards, 194 touchdowns and 123 interceptions over his 11-year NFL career. However, he was far less effective during his final few seasons with the Patriots and Panthers.
While it seems unlikely, Newton does have experience playing for Bill Belichick, who’s considered one of the favorites for the Falcons’ head coach vacancy. Nonetheless, it’s tough to predict which direction the team will go until a new coach is hired.
