Cam Newton released by Carolina Panthers; where will he play next? Options are slim.

Cam Newton is on the free-agent market, but what teams are most likely to add him? We focus on the odds around each team.

Denver Broncos +1600

Denver doesn’t have a ton of experience at the position and second-year QB Drew Lock, who made just five starts in his rookie year, is expected to be QB1. Pass on a wager here.

Las Vegas Raiders +2500

Despite the fact Derek Carr had career-best marks in completion percentage (70.4) and passing yards (4,054) last year, it just feels like the Raiders aren’t that committed to him. Could Newton be a fit here as the team continues to be reshaped in head coach Jon Gruden’s mold? Personally, it would be a poor move — but, this feels just like a move the Raiders would entertain. I’m down with a small-unit wager here, but the team’s recent signing of Marcus Mariota (Titans) tempers that bet.

Pittsburgh Steelers +2500

Ben Roethlisberger, 38, isn’t getting any younger and missed all but two games a year ago. Did the team see enough out of Mason Rudolph, a third-year pro, last year to believe he can be QB1 moving forward? I think so. Pass on a wager here.

Other long-shot Cam Newton bets

While these teams are all on the board at BetMGM, and all have very profitable returns, none of these squads, barring injury, seem likely to bring him in. I’d pass despite the high return.

  • Buffalo Bills +4000
  • New York Giants +5000
  • New York Jets +5000
  • Indianapolis Colts +8000
  • Chicago Bears +10000
  • Detroit Lions +10000
  • Los Angeles Rams +10000
  • New Orleans Saints +12500
