The biggest cut of the offseason has happened.
The New England Patriots have cut former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
After starting last season, the Patriots drafted Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Jones impressed the NFL world over the course of the preseason but many assumed it would not have been enough for him to win the job. Evidently, that was not correct.
Newton will be a free agent after the news.
