Cam Newton explains why he’s ‘tired of being humble’ in explicit Instagram video

Strong words from Cam Newton.

Cam Newton took to Instagram on Monday to explain what he’s “getting tired of being humble.” The New England Patriots quarterback delivered an impassioned speech of self empowerment during a workout.

“I’m tired of all this humble (expletive), because when you’re humble, they start taking advantage of you,” Newton said in the second video in the Instagram post. “When you don’t say nothing, they start taking advantage of you. The hyena can be doing all that he do. The elephant can be doing all that he do. The giraffe, the antelope, the chimpanzee, the gorilla can be doing all that they do. But there’s one (expletive) lion in the jungle, and when he roar, everything stops — and I’m about to (expletive) roar.”

Newton signed with the Patriots this month after spending a long period in free agency, likely in part because of the coronavirus pandemic, which prevented some league transactions. He will compete against Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer after departure of quarterback Tom Brady, who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years and six Super Bowl wins with the Patriots.

Newton is coming off his worst season of his career after suffering a season-ending foot injuries — which followed injuries to his knee and throwing shoulder. That pileup of injuries seemed to contribute to the Panthers releasing Newton this offseason. And that may also be why the Patriots were able to sign him for the veteran minimum on a one-year deal, which includes incentives that could boost his earnings to $7.5 million.

Newton is clearly the most talented quarterback in New England, which makes him the front-runner to win the starting job this summer.
