Cam Newton ‘can’t wait’ to throw at Auburn’s Pro Day as fans buzz about an NFL comeback

Newton is BACKKKKKKK … again.

It’s been a little over a year since Cam Newton last threw an NFL pass, but he isn’t throwing in the professional towel yet. That’s because the 33-year-old is prepared for another shot at the highest level of football.

On Monday night, Newton posted an edited video of himself throwing a ball and discussing his upcoming plans. The 2015 NFL MVP revealed he would participate in Auburn’s Pro Day on Tuesday. (Note: Another former SEC talent, D.J. Fluker, will follow not long after with Alabama.)

Why?

The former superstar signal caller apparently wants back in the NFL as he sees an opportunity with “randoms” still getting quarterback jobs. And honestly, I’d be willing to bet he can still play.

It’s been years since Newton featured at a Pro Bowl level, let alone the Carolina Panthers campaign that garnered him an MVP award. But some gifted players like himself have enjoyed late-career renaissances in the past — Randall Cunningham and Michael Vick first come to mind.

In a league that’s always starving for quality quarterback play, Newton giving pro football another go is far from the worst idea.
