Early in 2020 California held its first hearing on legal sports betting. The Joint Assembly and Senate Government Organizational Committees held a meeting in Sacramento Jan. 8 to get input from industry experts on what the state’s betting market could look like. The state stands to have the country’s largest legal sports betting market based on population and the highest number of professional teams.
Yet, experts don’t believe California will have legal sports betting in the near future due to the state’s tribal casinos, card rooms and racetracks.
