Just a little under two weeks after the 2023 NBA draft, the Golden State Warriors new Summer League campaign got underway with a playoff rematch against the Sacramento Kings in the annual California Classic at Golden 1 Center on Monday.
While the Warriors eliminated the Kings in the first round of the 2023 playoffs, the Kings landed the first punch in the Summer League on Monday night in front of their home crowd.
NBA All-Rookie wing Keegan Murray showed no signs of slowing down after his impressive rookie season with a game-high 29 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field with three made triples in 31 minutes. Behind Murray, the Kings secured a win in the California Classic opener, 100-94.
In his Warriors debut, first round pick Brandin Podziemski tallied 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field with one made 3-pointer with six boards and six assists in 30 minutes.
Lester Quinones took over the Warriors late, scoring 13 of his team-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough for Golden State to secure their first Summer League win.
