Five-star QB prospect and OU commit Caleb Williams went into depth on the Sooner Summit, specifically compliance guidelines set out by the coaching staff, in the latest entry of his blog series.
Much has been made about the legality of the summit, a group visit to Norman which was put together and hosted entirely by Williams and his family during a recruiting dead period.
The party featured several OU commits, as well as top-shelf uncommitted prospects, which raised eyebrows across the country. But it appears that Williams and his family worked hard to keep everything clean.
“When we first had this idea we reached out to Coach Riley and his staff to make sure that we would all be on the same page and they could get compliance involved to make sure that we followed all of the rules,” Williams said. “They set out some ground rules and we followed them to the letter.”
#soonersummit was a success! It was in coordination with the NCAA. 20 recruits total throughout the weekend- thank you Caleb and Family! @Leigh71Tristan @Aidan_leigh72 @CALEBcsw @OuQb1 @CrystalGailCEO @KingsKidsCDC @byrd_savion pic.twitter.com/jX54whpIqi

Understandably, Riley and his staff set out to make sure that a fun-filled weekend didn’t turn into one massive recruiting violation.
“We couldn’t meet with the coaches in person,” he said. “We couldn’t have contact with the staff while we were on campus. We couldn’t have the photo shoot, etc…It was a lot to follow and sometimes a little difficult, but everyone was so grateful for the opportunity to just see the campus and to be around the guys”
Despite the lengthy list of rules, it appears that the summit was a resounding success, allowing OU commits to gel with their future teammates in Norman.
