The 2023 NFL draft is in the books and it didn’t take long for the attention to shift over to 2024. While no one knows just how the upcoming NFL season, it’s always fun to run through mocks of top prospects for next year.
As we go into this college football season, both Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of North Carolina are battling it out to be the top quarterback selected in the 2024 NFL draft. And right now, it appears as if Williams has the early edge.
USA TODAY Sports released its first mock draft for the 2024 cycle and they have Williams going No. 1 overall to Arizona. Maye is still a top 5 pick but he lands with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 4 overall:
Here’s to guessing that the Baker Mayfield-Kyle Trask pairing will prove untenable before season’s end. At 6-4 and 220 pounds with impressive mobility and top-notch arm strength, Maye might be what the Buccaneers need to begin their full relaunch in 2024 after what could be a very trying season.
That’s the same spot that Pro Football Focus had Maye landing, except he was the No. 5 overall pick.
Both Maye and Williams are considered generational talents going into this season and it should be a race between those two the entire year.
