Caleb Williams becomes first rookie quarterback to throw for a touchdown in 2024

Bears top pick Caleb Williams becomes first rookie quarterback to throw for a touchdown in 2024

In what has been an odd trend for the start of the 2024 season, it took until week three to see a passing touchdown from any of the many rookie quarterbacks who opened the season as starters. This streak finally came to an end last Sunday as Caleb Williams found a pair of passing touchdowns for the Chicago Bears in what was ultimately a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Williams ultimately compiled an impressive stat line of 33/52 passing, 363 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Williams added another 8 yards on the ground. While the turnovers were a bit of a problem, it was good to see the flashes we saw from Williams manifest on a NFL field, especially in his connection to fellow rookie Rome Odunze who has a big day of his own with 112 yards and a touchdown.

Look for Williams to improve on his start and with his connection with Odunze moving forward. If Chicago can figure out their horrendous offensive line play, this Bears offense could quickly end up being one of the bigger threats in the league. Hopefully we will see another one of these rookie quarterbacks notch a passing touchdown of their own in the coming weeks to try and catch up with the number one overall pick.
