Caitlin Clark breaks single-season Indiana Fever rookie assists record in just 20 games

Quick work for Caitlin Clark.

Breaking records seems to be a hobby for Caitlin Clark at this point. Any record in her way seems to be a matter of when she will break it rather than if she will break it. She was the same way with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Already setting the pace for the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, Caitlin Clark is checking off Indiana Fever rookie records at a feverish pace. In the Fever’s 88-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury, Clark checked off a single-season record.

In just 20 games, Caitlin Clark has already broken the Indiana Fever’s single-season rookie assist record. The record was previously held by Julie Allemand.

Through 20 games, Caitlin Clark has tallied 138 assists and is on pace for 276 total assists. At this moment, she is also third in the WNBA in assists per game with 6.9.

Clark is gathering these assists while also averaging 16.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, where she averages 34.3 minutes played each night out. She is shooting 39.4% from the field, 34.6% from three-point range (No. 19 in the WNBA), and 88% from the free-throw line (No. 9 in the WNBA).

The Indiana Fever’s latest win has helped them climb their way into the playoff picture after the last two years saw them struggle mightily, which in turn has landed them Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.

Up next is a Tuesday night matchup in Las Vegas against the Aces at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
