LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Caio Borralho[/autotag] is pushing himself to the limit in pursuit of greatness, and that means mixing it up with some of the best in his division inside the training room.
Borralho (13-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who meets Michal Oleksiejczuk (18-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 223 co-main event, did not leave any stones unturned as he looks to take the next step in the middleweight pecking order.
“I went to train with Khamzat (Chimaev), I went to train with Paulo Costa, I went to train with Sean Strickland – all the good guys,” Borralho told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 223 media day. “I know I’m ready.”
Some fighters would not exactly be keen to trade looks in the gym with fighters ranked above them in the same weight class, but Borralho takes an ego-less approach to his career. He knows what it takes to get better and climb to the top, and he’s taking the steps he sees as essential.
“I’m very with my feet down to earth,” Borralho said. “I know where I am right now and I know what I need to do to be where I want to be. I’m not doing anything different. I’m getting more money, but I’m training even harder. I’m using this money to hire good guys to put me in discomfort all the time. I’m training harder. There’s no amount of money on this earth that’s going to make me comfortable.”
