Cage Warriors 113: French contender Morgan Charriere lands interim title shot in London

Morgan Charriere will get his first shot at gold when he competes for the interim featherweight title at Cage Warriors 113 in London.

[autotag]Morgan Charriere[/autotag], one of the best rising talents to come out of France, will get his first shot at a significant title when he returns to action at Cage Warriors 113 in London.

Current 145-pound champion Mads Burnell originally was set to compete in London. But with the Dane unable to fight, Cage Warriors officials have booked top contender Charriere (15-7-1) in an interim featherweight title bout at the Indigo at The O2 on March 20. His opponent is still to be announced.

Charriere has impressed with a string of eye-catching performances, but none garnered more attention than his knockout of former featherweight champion Dean Trueman at Cage Warriors 109.

That victory won him the fan-voted Cage Warriors “Knockout of the Year” award with 96.1 percent of the 41,000 votes cast, and cemented his position as the top contender in Cage Warriors’ featherweight division. Now the 24-year-old will challenge for gold in London.

Charriere’s addition to the London event gives the top of the fight card a distinctly French flavor with fellow countryman and Cage Warriors flyweight champion Samir Faiddine set to make the first defense of his title against Luke Shanks in the main event.

The card, which will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass, also features Liverpudlian fan favorite Paddy Pimblett, undefeated Welsh lightweight contender Mason Jones and rising Irish prospect Ian Garry.
