Rhode Island (0-0) vs Villanova (1-0) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Rhode Island’s opener was postponed and now it’s getting things started, having to wait a little longer to get back on the field after a miserable 2-10 2019 season. The Rams were bad on the ground, worse at defending the run, and struggled with their overall consistency. Making matters worse, there’s not a whole lot of experience coming back.
However, URI has a few good FBS transfers coming in – including former Maryland/Tennessee QB Kasim Hill – but the team will need a whole lot of work.
Villanova wasn’t great against Stony Brook in the 16-13 win, but Daniel Smith threw for 253 yards and the D was a rock until things got dicey late. There were 16 penalties and things weren’t working on the ground, but the team got the win.
Consider some of the kinks worked out for the Wildcats – the O will start closing better. The defense will take over – again – and make up for the inconsistencies on the other side as the Wildcats control the game and the clock from the start.
