Coby White will make his first career start on Tuesday night as the Chicago Bulls host the Cleveland Cavaliers, head coach Jim Boylen said on Monday afternoon.
White has come off of the bench in each of the Bulls’ 64 games to this point of the season but the rookie will get his first opportunity in the starting lineup against the Cavaliers.
The first-round pick has had a remarkable run recently with the Bulls.
White has scored at least 20 points in seven out of his last eight games and became the first rookie in NBA history to record at least 30 points in three consecutive games as a reserve.
He is averaging 26.9 points, 4.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds on 44.6% shooting from 3-point range over that span. His 26.9 points are 10th-most in the NBA among all players during that time frame.

Boylen has not shown any inclination to start White previously this season and believed he needed to play better in order to earn that honor. With the Bulls sliding in the playoff race, and with the recent hot streak by White, the Bulls are finally going to give him a chance to start.
White leads all rookies with 131 made 3-pointers.
