Not surprisingly, Colorado’s recent wins over Eastern Washington and Milwaukee weren’t quite enough to get the Buffs any votes in Monday’s Ferris Mower’s Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.
The Buffs’ only opponent this week comes in the form of CSU Bakersfield on Saturday and unfortunately, a win here won’t get Colorado much national attention, either. But the Buffs have an opportunity on Dec. 21 to earn some votes if they can knock down Kansas, which remained stagnant at No. 7 in this week’s poll.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the Pac-12 this season has been Southern California. Neither of the Trojans’ wins last week were particularly impressive (Eastern Kentucky and Long Beach State), but they remain undefeated at 10-0 and jumped six spots in the poll to No. 9. Colorado and USC’s lone meeting this season will be on Jan. 20 in Boulder.

The two other Pac-12 schools in the poll, UCLA and Arizona, also rose. With the help of a road victory at Marquette, the Bruins improved one spot to No. 3. Meanwhile, the No. 6 Wildcats improved two spots courtesy of their 83-79 victory at Illinois.
Neither Arizona nor USC was ranked in the preseason poll on Oct. 27.
And for the first time this year, the 10-0 Colorado State Rams were deservedly ranked at No. 23.
