The Colorado Buffaloes are already benefiting from hiring Phil McGeoghan as the new wide receivers coach. The veteran assistant has spent time in the NFL and has already been strong on the recruiting trail.
Now, the Buffs are in the race for four-star class of 2023 WR Robert Lockhart III, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.
Lockhart is also considering Jackson State and Maryland at the moment along with the Buffs, and he walked away impressed with the veteran presence on the coaching staff in Boulder (h/t Wiltfong).
“Colorado, they have a veteran NFL coach and he was telling me all the receivers he’s worked with.”
If McGeoghan can use his impressive resume to bring in Lockhart, that is yet another nice addition to the 2023 recruiting class. Just shortly after being hired, the Buffs also landed a commitment from three-star WR Edward Schultz.
With all of the changes in the WR room during this offseason, the group looks much different in 2022, and McGeoghan and head coach Karl Dorrell are working hard to secure a talented group when 2023 rolls around as well.
247Sports has Lockhart ranked as the 37th WR in the class, and the Buffs would be ecstatic to add the speedy 5-foot-7, 175-pound wideout from Georgia. The race is on, and beating out both Maryland and Jackson State is a tall task.
