The final week of the college football regular season is here and the CU Buffs are still led by interim head coach Mike Sanford. While Sanford has performed his duties admirably, it’s about time for athletic director Rick George to announce the program’s full-time head coach.
We’ve been tracking hot boards for nearly two months now and with several qualified candidates out there, it’s honestly difficult to name a single favorite. There is some comfort in knowing we won’t be waiting much longer, though.
Brian Howell of BuffZone tweeted on Monday morning that he expects Colorado to name a head coach as soon as Wednesday, and he “would be surprised if it’s not by next Monday.”
Personally, I feel the most appropriate day to name a head coach would be Sunday. Let Sanford finish this season and then allow the new captain a “clean” slate.
Wednesday at the earliest. I would be surprised if it’s not by next Monday.
