Arizona sports fans were blindsided by the NBA news that Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul entered health and safety protocols due to testing positive for COVID-19. This is obviously significant because the Suns are waiting to play in the Western Conference Finals.
However, Paul isn’t the only notable Arizona athlete to catch COVID. It has hit the Arizona Cardinals, apparently.
Safety Budda Baker posted on his story on Instagram the following, noting “COVID 1, Budda 0” with an emoji with a thermometer and a masked emoji.
It was sharing the story of his girlfriend, who appears to be pulling out all the health stops to help the star Cardinals safety.
Her story has the caption, “best place to be sick is home.”
The Cardinals are off until training camp, which will start at the end of July, so this doesn’t affect the season, but it does raise questions, considering the recent report that the Cardinals are among the teams having trouble getting their players to get vaccinated.
Of course, Baker could be already vaccinated. Chris Paul is supposedly vaccinated, too, but still tested positive.
If Baker is not feeling well, hopefully he recovers quickly. But he is in no danger of missing any time this offseason, provided he does not end up needing to be hospitalized.
