The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have a strong receiving corps with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but there’s always room for more weapons.
General manager Jason Licht certainly seems to think so, as Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network reported on Thursday that the Bucs are set to host Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer for a pre-draft visit. There is somewhat of an offensive-trend with the team’s pre-draft schedule, as the Tampa Bay is also set to host Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker as well.
According to The Draft Network’s own analysis on Palmer, the Nebraska wideout is projected as a fourth-round pick. He’s notably quite fast, having run a 4.33 at the NFL Combine, and he also has special teams experience as a return man — something Licht and the Bucs are likely to value. The report notes his lack of physical opposition in college, however, which could be something to watch when it comes to his tape.
2022 was his best year with the Cornhuskers, as he caught 71 passes for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns. He primarily plays out of the slot, so he could be a versatile weapon for any team who drafts him.
