Don’t expect Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback [autotag]Baker Mayfield[/autotag] to miss any time.
Mayfield injured his ankle during the first quarter of the team’s game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 and got an MRI on it when he came back to Tampa Bay that returned negative. Bucs head coach Todd Bowles told reporters on Monday that his ankle was sore and they’d see where he’s at, but on Wednesday, he revealed that Mayfield’s ankle is “feeling a lot better” and that he expects Mayfield to start on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Call Mayfield anything you want, but call him tough, too. Mayfield has missed just three games due to injury, and he typically toughs out injuries that others may miss time for. Mayfield told reporters Wednesday that his ankle feels fine, so it appears the pain management aspect of his injury will be easier to work with as the week continues.
